Cooperation opportunities with application of MRC studies, guidelines and tools for hydropower planning

Bangkok, Thailand, 26 October 2016 - The Mekong River Commission (MRC) with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has initiated a dialogue on the potential application of MRC studies, guidelines and tools for hydropower planning at a Sustainable Hydropower Practice Forum held in Bangkok, Thailand on 25-26 October.

Cambodia, Viet Nam Better Understand Transboundary Issues in Sesan-Srepok Sub-basins through a Field Trip

Buon Ma Thuot, Viet Nam, 26 August 2016 – Institutionalising cross-border mechanisms to assess impact of water resources development, monitor water flow and quality, and provide early warning of flooding are the priorities for the management of the Sesan-Srepok river sub-basins that located in Cambodia’s northeast provinces and Viet Nam’s central highlands, according to the MRC-supported Sesan-Srepok transboundary water resources management project.

New Mekong-HYCOS project remains on track after consultation with regional and international experts

Vientiane, Lao PDR, 14 July 2016 – The Mekong River Commission (MRC) and the Compagnie National du Rhône (CNR) held a regional consultation to present their work plan for the expansion of the Mekong-Hydro Meteorological Cycle Observation System, better known as Mekong-HYCOS, to improve flood and drought forecasting and data application in other areas such as fisheries, agriculture and navigation.

MRC Secretariat handovers a speedboat and floating dock to line agency in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 13 May 2016 – The Mekong River Commission Secretariat in Phnom Penh on 10 May transferred its navigation speedboat and floating dock along with some spare parts to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport’s Waterway Department through the Cambodia National Mekong Committee to be used for any navigational works of the Department specifically and the Ministry generally.
