How to Apply
Who can apply?
Eligible candidates should be:
- Riparian nationals (of Cambodia, the Lao PDR, Thailand or Viet Nam) and dialogue partner countries (China and Myanmar) living and working within the four Mekong countries continuously for more than two years prior to application or;
- Young lecturers from local universities or junior trainers from training institutes or;
- Members from tributary basin organisations
They should be/have:
- 35 years of age or under
- Practical work experience related to water resource management and river work
- Proficient in English language and able to work in an English language environment; proof of English language proficiency is a plus
- Experience with and good knowledge of the Mekong riparian countries and the Mekong River Basin is desirable;
- Hold a Master’s degree in water resources management and/or a related field.
Female candidates are encouraged to apply, and special provision can be made for women with or expecting young children.
How to apply
Only nationals from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam and dialogue partner countries (China and Myanmar) are eligible to apply.
Interested candidates should complete the application form and OJT Proposal and submit it to the office of the National Mekong Committee within the deadline. Application forms are also available at the office of the National Mekong Committees in each riparian country, and at the MRC Secretariat in Vientiane, Lao PDR and Office of Secretariat in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The application should include:
- A cover letter in English (maximum 2 pages) indicating your interest in the project and what would you like to do after completion of the training programme
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- The JRP Application Form
- The on-the-job training proposal.
- A copy of passport size photo (not older than 3 months)
Please submit your application form to the National Mekong Committee in the applicant’s home country.

Note:
- Module A: lasts four to six months which is suitable for those who want to work in technical areas like developing models or have a hands-on experience in a specific field (e.g. GIS, DSF, Modelling, Mapping, RAM, etc). Target groups for this shorter training module are young lecturers, member of RBOs and technical specialists.
- Module B: lasts ten months which is suitable for those who want to have in-depth hand-on experience in one of MRC core activities which requires the whole year cycle (e.g. Programme Development and Management and International Cooperation.) Target groups for this longer training module are young professionals from the National Mekong Committees and line agencies. No extension of this ten-month assignment will be permitted.
Only short-listed applicants will be invited for interview.
